I am Victor Alvarez

I remember that my first camera was given to me when I did communion and that's where my relationship with photography began.

In 1993 I took my first analogue course in photography and development in a dark room... but it was in 2003 when I bought my first digital camera when I returned to resume this relationship with force. In 2016 I decided to train at the Leganés municipal school with the photographer Paco Morillo for 2 years, later I studied Lightroom, Photoshop, digital retouching, lighting, flash, composition and visual narrative, color and B/W at DRescuela.

In 2021 I did a studio portrait workshop with Estela de Castro.

Currently I am still training on my own and I am a member of the Jota Barros street photography club where I have taken color, composition, light, and technical courses. I have also taken an online street photography course with Gustavo Minas.

My references in color are Fred Herzog, Alex Webb, Saul Leiter, Helen Levitt, Joel Meyerowitz, Ernst Haas and in b/w Cartier Bresson, Fan Ho, Ramon Masats, Francesc Catalá Roca as well as many others that I am incorporating.

My photography

For me photography is never a reflection of reality, it is a form of artistic expression and is conditioned by the photographer in terms of technique, his emotional state, the tool with which it is taken and the subsequent development. That being said, I enjoy walking the streets without premeditated trying to follow my instinct and way of observing life.

My street photography or in public spaces is never intervened (with the exception of portraits) so I do not ask for permission not to alter the narrative of the moment that I want to represent, so if someone sees one of my images and does not like it Contact me and I will remove it from this website as well as from my Instagram and other platforms. If you like it and would like to have a copy, let me know and I'll gladly give it to you.

Soy Victor Alvarez
